Marine Homecoming: anytime

Okay, so I'm going to blog all kinds of out of order right now. I'm pressing pause on my BC blog updates to show you these pictures because they're current and they make me happy and excited.

Last week I was browsing [aka wasting my life] on Facebook and came across a posting about photographers needed to shoot a military homecoming. I ended up in San Diego on Friday morning and got to see one of the sweetest and most emotional homecomings I have ever been a part of.

I met up with my new friend Yvonne and she drove us onto the Miltary base where we were surrounded by families waiting for their husbands, wives, sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, brothers or sisters to come home. It was amazing. Women dressed to impress in cute summer dresses and heels with their hair and make-up done. Little kids completely decked out in red white and blue or "I love Daddy!" shirts. It was adorable and heartwarming. For the first hour or so we were waiting I just wandered around taking shots of details. Then I was paired up with a family waiting for their husband and father to come home. This homecoming was extra special to them because it was the last time they will ever have to wait for the end of a deployment. :D I hope I was able to capture the emotion of the day with these pictures and I really think everyone should go to a Military homecoming it's and experiance I will never forget.
